Residential Participation: If you are interested in being a part of Walk Ride Share Philadelphia, you will first need to fill out a quick application. This will tell us about what your typical monthly car usage is currently, why you want to be a part of the challenge, and what you feel the most difficult part will be for you. There may be an interview session to determine the final challengers. Once you have been chosen, you will attend the Press/Launch Event on Thursday, May 1st, in which you will “hand over” your keys and vow to put your car in park for the entire month of May. This is where we will be giving you your Mobility Package to help you along the way – including free PhillyCarShare driving, a SEPTA pass, discounted Amtrak fares, a personal fitting free pair of walking shoes provided by Philadelphia Runner, a free safety check and discounted tune-up for your bike provided by Trophy Bikes, and a discount for Fuji bikes for the purchase of a new bicycle. One participant will also be receiving a Brompton collapsible bicycle for the month. You will be submitting approximately 6 online journal entries, detailing your experiences. We urge you to be as creative and detailed as possible. There will be a closing celebration after the month comes to an end with prizes and recognition for the participants. This will be the first time that anything like Walk Ride Share has taken place in Philadelphia. Don’t miss this groundbreaking citywide initiative.
