Community Improvement
PhillyCarShare was born and raised in Philadelphia. Like any other Philadelphian, we want this city to thrive. So in addition to providing our innovative car-sharing service to scores of Philly neighborhoods, we offer communities small grants to make big things happen. We also connect Philadelphians with volunteer opportunities right in their own neighborhoods. Like we always say, we’re excited to make our city less about cars and more about people!
Apply for a Grant
We know that a little bit can go a long way. That’s why we offer grants of $250 for projects that build community and improve our physical environment, just like PhillyCarShare. Eligible projects include:
- Tree & Garden Planting (Please check the US Forest Service Map for priority tree planting areas)
- Park Cleanups & Repairs
- Street & Neighborhood Cleanups
- Vacant Lot Clean & Green Activities
- Civic & Environmental Education Programs
- Community-Building Activities
Since transportation and shared resources are both issues near and dear to our heart, we also offer $500 grants for projects such as:
- Bicycle Plans & Education Programs
- Parking Studies
- Transportation Plans
- Adopt-a-Stop Programs
- Shared Resource Programs
From Mantua to Kingsessing to Rittenhouse Square and more, we're helping dozens of Philadelphia communities improve their neighborhoods.

Volunteer!
In addition to small grants, we also help connect community members to local volunteer opportunities. These events are published in our monthly member newsletter as well as on our online CALENDER.
If your community group is in need of local volunteers, please provide us with event details and contact information, and we’ll get the word out to our thousands of local members.
